Elon Musk Gives Sneak Peak Of Underground Tunnel Opening Soon”

On Thursday, the Tesla and SpaceX chief released video on his Instagram account of the first two-mile stretch of the tunnel completed.

Elon Musk gave the world a sneak peak of his developing underground tunnel scheduled to be open to the Los Angeles public in "a few months", the LA Times reports. The future price for a ride will be a little lower than a bus ticket.

The tunnel is the first that Musk hopes to build as an underground road network where cars and people are transported at over 100 miles per hour on sleds and in pods.

You can check out his post and video on Instagram here.

Despite his ongoing woes with crashing and burning electric cars, Tesla CEO Elon Musk's been having an awesome spring, thanks to successes over at one of his other ventures. Another Musk venture, The Boring Company, is building the tunnel. Such rides would presumably involve rolling down the tunnel's track on the pods that would eventually become part of the Boring Company's transit system, with priority given to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Musk's plans have drawn criticism from transportation experts who warn they may worsen traffic congestion.

United States cities have largely halted the building of new tunnels and subways due to high costs that can exceed $1 billion per mile.

"Super huge thanks to everyone that helped with this project", he continued.

Musk's tunneling operation, called The Boring Co., is now seeking approval to push into the city of Los Angeles, which requires separate authorization.
