Carrie Underwood gives first televised interview since her fall”

On Thursday, in her first TV interview since the fall, the singer told Today Show host Hoda Kotb that she "just fell".

After the accident, Underwood chose to heal privately, and even refrained from posting photos of her face to social media. "I just tripped taking my dogs out to do their business, so it could've happened to anybody". The couple's 3-year-old son, Isaiah Michael, was asleep upstairs.

In Thursday's interview, Kotb told Underwood she looks "the same".

"It just wasn't pretty", the mom of one added when asked by Hoda about her injuries.

Slowly, but surely, Underwood said she's been trying to "get back to normal". Two days later, she shared a full-face portrait. Her spouse Mike Fisher, flew to Nashville to be with her, The Tennessean reported at the time.

"I love this because I have had conversations with people and I feel like people are telling me places that they cry", the activewear designer said. "Then I walked inside and took the dog leashes off and took my coat off and went to go survey the damage and was like, 'Oh, no!' I'm acting very calm about it now, but ... it wasn't pretty. I'll be alright...might just take some time..." "Stitches and all that stuff". Underwood admittedly didn't know if she could ever recover in full, though, after roughing herself up quite a bit in the accident as she said during an interview on Today. Priorities! In order that's why my left hand's fantastic. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step. If I had fallen anyplace else, I might have been completely fantastic. "But it was one step that messed everything up", she added. Underwood was hailed for her performance of "Cry Pretty" during the show, which Hoda noted was more powerful than she was expecting.

"People relate to it because sometimes you have to let it out", Underwood said of the song. "I feel like my vehicle kind of is, which I know people can still see you and they probably have seen me at a stoplight or something and are like, 'What's that insane lady doing over there?'"
