First lady Melania Trump to announce initiatives on children's well-being

First lady Melania Trump to announce initiatives on children's well-being”

From challenges facing children to the opiod epidemic, a look at First Lady Melania Trump's policy agenda.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders dismissed Monday an "outrageous and ridiculous" rumor that first lady Melania Trump does not live in the White House with the president.

"In my time as first lady of the United States I will make every effort to "be best" at championing the many successful well-being programs in existence today and teach the tools for emotional, social and physical well-being", she said.

"Mrs. Trump wishes to help the next generation by creating change through awareness on a variety of issues that affect children". Eighty-five percent of Republicans said they view her favorably and just seven percent said they had an unfavorable opinion.

The role of a First Lady, in terms of having a formal, branded platform, is somewhat undefined.

For Trump, who didn't go for the WhiteHouse fulltime until June of the last calendar year, settling on an definitive initiative has taken a relatively longer amount of time compared with a of her recent predecessors. Mrs. Trump has expressed interest in protecting children from cyberbullying, but as political observers have pointed out before, there's a certain irony there when her husband tweets insulting, nasty comments about his enemies on a regular basis. "The First Lady lives here in the White House", Sanders said in response, slamming it as "tabloid gossip".

Trump has promised to tackle cyberbullying as first lady, hosting major online and social media companies at the White House earlier this year.

"I will continue to travel and speak to children directly about both their victories and hard realities they face, said Trump".

The first lady said she will continue to speak with leaders in the technology industry about children's social media habits, work with those fighting drug addiction and to travel and speak to children.

"I always feel you have to take care of each other with kindness and respect and compassion, but in addition remain true to yourself". Trump confessed for the first time her aim to move forward with the topic, regardless of what could possibly be viewed as hypocrisy.

As recently as the past month, the first lady hosted a more compact group of 1-2 kids in the WhiteHouse for an hearing session regarding the emotional issues they face in their own lives, either in home and in faculty.
