Trump says lawyers have advised him against Mueller talks

Trump says lawyers have advised him against Mueller talks”

The recruitment of Emmet Flood, who represented president Bill Clinton when he was impeached by the House of Representatives and tried by the Senate in 1998-99, signaled that the White House is going on the offensive as it girds for a tough battle over presidential powers and possibly obstruction allegations with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who leads the Russian Federation probe. "Nobody wants to speak more than me, because we've done nothing wrong", Trump said.

The president spoke to reporters on the south lawn of the White House and on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews before heading to deliver remarks at the National Rifle Association convention in Dallas, Texas. He has repeatedly urged cooperation with the investigation in hopes of bringing it to a quick end, and he has viewed his role as largely finished now that interviews with current and former White House officials have been completed.

The list of four dozen questions, which covered a range of topics, including Russian meddling in the USA election and whether Trump tried to obstruct justice to protect his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, was published by the New York Times earlier this week.

Trump also said that a date and venue for his landmark summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un would be unveiled soon, as he left open the prospect of future United States troop reductions in the South. It's the latest shakeup for the legal team grappling with unresolved questions on how to protect the president from legal and political jeopardy. Disputes over legal strategy reportedly led to Dowd's resignation. Dowd vehemently opposed it.

At the White House, he told DailyMail.com that his legal team is counseling him against giving Mueller the chance to quiz him about his campaign's links to Moscow, and about claims that he obstructed justice in 2017 by firing then-FBI Director James Comey.

Trump meanwhile has stepped up his counterattack.

Trump lashed out against the investigation in familiar fashion Wednesday, tweeting: "There was no Collusion (it is a Hoax) and there is no Obstruction of Justice (that is a setup & trap)". He knows this is a witch hunt.

Flood has experience in the highest of high-profile white collar cases.

Flood previously represented former President Clinton during his impeachment proceedings.

Flood also defended vice-president Dick Cheney in a civil suit over leaking the identity of Valerie Plame, a covert Central Intelligence Agency operative.

Trump's comments come as he is being newly advised concerning Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election by Rudy Giuliani, the former NY mayor and federal prosecutor.

"Some people have talked about a possible 12-hour interview".

"I'm deeply grateful to the president and the chief of staff for this opportunity to serve my country", Cobb told The Associated Press on Wednesday night. (Giuliani really began two weeks in the past).
