Lightning strike believed to cause damage to Telstra cables in regional NSW”

"We're working to restore services ASAP and are sorry for service interruptions". Have you had trouble getting through to the emergency services this morning? "We are also passing on those customers' details to state based emergency services for follow-up", she said.

Queensland seems to be now receiving emergency calls without issue.

Telstra said in a statement posted online that a cable break caused by an unknown party between Orange and Bathurst in NSW at 2.05AM on 4 May caused intermittent mobile voice connection interruptions in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

People are being advised to call 131 444 if they are experiencing an emergency and can't get through to 000 at the present time.

"We've moved to other arrangements - the Police Assistance Line picking up the 000 calls that can't get through".

"We're making every attempt to call them back", he said.

NSW Police have warned Coffs Coast residents that a Telstra Network issue is affecting calls to Triple Zero this morning.

Problems with Triple 0 calls are being experienced in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia, the telco said. It is not yet known how many people have been impacted by the outage.

"At this stage the ACMA's primary concern is the restoration of access to triple zero as quickly as possible". However, an issue occurred with the routing of some traffic which resulted in intermittent disruptions to E000 calls.

A suspected lightning strike that caused a major Telstra outage has also left businesses around the country without EFTPOS services.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and have our teams working on this as a priority".

It comes as the second outage this week for the telco.
