Speaking at length about proving electricity to 18,000 villages, PM Modi targeted the Congress and questioned why those villages lacked power supply since independence.

Prefacing his speech with a reference to the BJP and its forerunner Jana Sangh's connect with Udupi, the prime minister recalled how people of the city voted for the nominees of the saffron party 40 years ago when their flags hardly fluttered anywhere else. He slammed Siddharamaiah government and appealed to people to vote for BJP.

Similarly wards of a number of Ministers are also in the fray promoting politics of family in the state. All the preparations have been done ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's rally.

In this region, also with a size able Dalit and backward class population, Prime Minister charged Congress with continuing to show disrespect to Babasaheb B R Ambedkar. Addressing his first rally in Chamrajnagar district, PM Modi said, "If Rahul Gandhi speaks for 15 min that itself will be a big thing".

Campaigning has gained momentum in poll-bound state of Karnataka with elections around the corner.

Siddaramaiah also hit out at PM Modi for his remarks that the Karnataka Chief Minister was contesting from two constituencies and changing his seat, fearing defeat.

The MHA comment came after the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's tweet asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve the request sent by the state Government.

CongressRahul Gandhiwill undertake the eighth leg of his campaign for the upcoming KarnatakaAssembly polls on May 3-4, a party source said here today. On the issue of kaamdaar and naamdaar that Mr Modi had raised during his rally, Ms Dev said, "The people of the country are not thinking about who is kaamdaar or naamdaar".

Further continuing his attack on Congress, the BJP spearhead said, "In Karnataka, where Lokayukta can be attacked, the common man is not safe".

"The Congress must answer people of the state what work they have done in Karnataka", added Modi. Similarly, almost 50 per cent of people believe that over the last five years of the Congress government, corruption has either significantly or somewhat increased.

Various Congress leaders are also campaigning across the state including the party president Rahul Gandhi and CM Siddharamaiah. "Those who keep abusing us day and night do not tell why there are still four crore households without electricity", he said. "The Congress will not win more than 50 seats", Yeddyurappa said.
