Two men were arrested and were charged with public violence and malicious damage to property.

Chiefs were fined 250,000 rand (about $20,500/17,000 euros) this week after supporters flung missiles at Komphela after a heavy league loss in Soweto this month.

Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung confirmed on Sunday that Komphela had quit with immediate effect and said it was best for the team right now.

Naicker said: "We will be probing if the deployments of SAPS, Security Personnel and other security agencies were in place according to the plan, and whether those that were deployed to provide security event reacted as they were expected to".

Resulting from the ugly scenes, players from both clubs as well as their technical teams, had to run for cover, but a security guard was beaten and left unconscious on the pitch.

Coach Eymeal has expressed his worry about the display of the former Maritzburg United forward. All across the field there were then clashes between fans and security officials.

South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) also condemned the violence.

"The league will work closely with law enforcement to ensure that those responsible for this hooliganism are subjected to judicial processes", the statement said.

"Hooliganism and thuggery of this nature has no place in football and acts of violence perpetrated by individuals. can not be tolerated", the league said.

Moses Mabhida Stadium was opened in 2009 and was a central venue during the 2010 World Cup.

Malawian football legend Patrick Mabedi has been assigned with the role to manage South African Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs until the end of the season. South Africa's worst soccer disaster was in 2001 when 43 supporters died in a crush at a game, also between the Chiefs and Pirates in Johannesburg.
