Battlefield V Battle Royale Mode In Prototype Stage At DICE

Battlefield V Battle Royale Mode In Prototype Stage At DICE”

According to recent reports, Activision is also looking into including a battle royale mode in Black Ops 4.

Quick, pick a side in Fortnite vs. PUBG, because the field's about to get a lot more crowded.

Battlefield Royale anyone? Or, at least, that's what I would call a battle royale mode for Battlefield 5, which is apparently being prototyped by DICE for its next game in EA's multiplayer shooter franchise. The key word is "prototype" - this hasn't been greenlit for full development, and is unlikely to be done in time to meet the game's release date later this year. Battlefield, on the other hand, is known for much bigger maps, bigger player counts and at least a little more methodical gameplay, so maybe more standard battle royale play would feel at home there. And now, we can add this battle royale thingy to our list. While MOBA's outside of Overwatch have begun to dwindle in support, the direction going forward looks to be on the Battle Royale mode. Grubb reached out to EA for any comments on this report but they declined. The series has always been known for its large maps and destructible environments, so the game is kind of already a ideal match for the new genre. DICE is certainly capable of achieving this with Battlefield V, and doing so with a game that features the Frostbite Engine could create plenty of opportunities.

Tentatively titled Battlefield V, the first person shooter is expected to arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC later this year, with a reported World War II setting.
