Trump to Russia: 'Get ready' for missile strike on Syriaā€¯

While the USA has not yet announced any formal military response to the latest chemical attack, Trump on Wednesday morning warned Russian Federation that it should "get ready" for a missile launch at Syria.

President Trump said Sunday that there would be a "big price to pay" for the poison gas attack that killed dozens of Syrian civilians, and he issued a rare public rebuke to Russian President Vladimir Putin for backing Assad in the country's civil war.

Last night the U.S. ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed Russian Federation for blocking a vote calling for a new inquiry into responsibility for use of chemical weapons in Douma after the weekend's apparent attack.

Some diplomats said there were several arguments to justify bombing Syria over the suspected chemical weapons attack.

The Syrian government has said U.S. threats to attack it are "reckless" and endanger global peace and security. "We need all nations to work together", President Trump Twitted.

"Russia's protection of the Assad regime and failure to stop the use of chemical weapons in Syria calls into question its commitment to resolving the overall crisis". Russia vetoed a USA text, while two Russian-drafted resolutions failed to get a minimum nine votes to pass.

A suspected chemical weapons attack Saturday in a Damascus suburb killed at least 40 people, many of them children.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government has put its forces on "high alert" amid the looming threat of a USA military response.

The US is expected to launch a military strike by the end of the week.

"It's not at all odd that it (the United States) supports the terrorists in Ghouta and condones their fabrications and lies to use them as a pretext to target Syria", the official source said.

On Tuesday, rival draft resolutions by the U.S. and Russian Federation to set up a new expert body to probe chemical weapons attacks in Syria both failed to pass at the United Nations Security Council.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph has reported that British submarines are being moved within "missile range" of Syria - and that military action could start on Thursday night.

Alexander Zasypkin, to Hezbollah's al-Manar TV Tuesday that "if there is a strike by the Americans then. the missiles will be downed and even the sources from which the missiles were fired".
