Assad forces emptying airports, bases over possible USA strikes, Syrian Observatory says”

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Russian Federation on Wednesday of imminent military action in Syria over a suspected poison gas attack, declaring that missiles "will be coming" and lambasting Moscow for standing by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

US President Donald Trump warned Russian Federation on Wednesday to "get ready", because bombs "will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'".

US military officials are probably planning for a larger, more robust strike than the one USA warships launched April 7, 2017, in response to the Syrian regime's use of chemical weapons, said a former senior Defense official familiar with planning for that attack.

When Trump says "smart" missiles, he means missiles that use precision guidance systems based on lasers or satellite-powered GPS to pinpoint and strike targets with exactitude.

In subsequent messages, he said the United States' relationship with Russian Federation is at the worst point at any time, including during the Cold War, and blamed the issues in part on the ongoing investigation into election meddling. "We need all nations to work together", President Trump Twitted.

In response, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a Facebook post that "smart missiles should fly towards terrorists, not towards the lawful government". "Stop the arms race?" Russia vetoed a us text, while two Russian-drafted resolutions failed to get a minimum nine votes to pass.

A spokesperson for the President said: "Both leaders condemned Syrian President Assad's vicious disregard for human life".

This morning Trump - who has cancelled a trip to South America this weekend in order to oversee the response - raised the rhetoric one level higher.

At the same time, we expect that in the event of United States strikes, if any, the lives of our servicemen will not be in danger.

After Assad's most recent alleged attack, Trump said that "nothing is off the table".

The US's military commitment to Syria, however, remains tiny compared to the US's involvement in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The President previously criticised the Obama Administration for telegraphing its military moves in advance.

He lambasted Moscow for standing by Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Russia's ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, had warned that the federation's military will shoot down United States rockets and "even the sources that launched the missiles".
