Russian MoD: Drop Test of Newest Heavy ICMB Successfully Conducted”

Russian Federation tested its new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Friday as tensions continued to soar between Moscow and the West.

The test was carried out at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, as spaceport in the west of Russian Federation. The Russian Defense Ministry posted video footage of the launch.

The first launch of this rocket took place in December 2017.

The U.S. joined the United Kingdom and several European Union nations in punishing Russian Federation after a former double agent and his daughter were attacked with a nerve agent on the streets of Salisbury in the United Kingdom. "The first took place towards the end of past year", CNBC reported.

Russian president Vladimir Putin said earlier this month that the new Sarmat missile system would render any USA missile defense system "useless" and warned the west that it had "failed to contain Russia" in remarks to lawmakers and political elites. The MoD revealed no further details about the missile's flight route. If these capabilities are accurate, it could make the Kinzhal hard to intercept by anti-missile systems.

There are worries about the rising tension between some countries when it comes to nuclear weapons.

As with the other weapons he unveiled in his speech, Putin hailed the Sarmat as rendering ineffective even the most advanced missile defense systems that the United States might deploy for the foreseeable future.

Experts have said Putin's claims about the missile were hyperbolic, given that Russia's current Voyevoda-class ICBMs can already easily overwhelm the U.S.' missile defenses, as they could have in the Cold War.

"It's a response to US abandoning anti-missile defense treaty and building up its potential".

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly told Putin during a congratulatory phone call after Putin's election win last week that "if you want to have an arms race we can do that, but I'll win", sources told NBC News.

"Any use of nuclear weapons against Russian Federation or its allies, be it small-scale, medium-scale or any other scale, will be treated as a nuclear attack on our country", Putin said.

Putin also boasted of Russia's "modern, compact and high-tech army". "The response will be instant and with all the relevant consequences".
