Declan Donnelly to present Saturday Night Takeaway alone

Declan Donnelly to present Saturday Night Takeaway aloneā€

The decision to host alone was made after Ant McPartlin was charged with drink driving following a collision in south-west London.

This historic live episode saw Declan Donnelly host Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV) without partner Anthony McPartlin, who has returned to rehab following his recent drink-driving charge.

Saturday Night Takeaway sponsor Virgin Holidays shared a first look at the final episode, in which Ant was absent despite filming promotional scenes.

Dec, Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern are all set to pull together to present the show, after it was cancelled last week.

On Friday Dec revealed he was heading for rehearsals solo in a message on Twitter.

Dec joked at the start of tonight's show saying: "We have got a jam-packed show, this week we have lots to cram in and twice the amount of work to do".

"They want to be respectful to people involved in Ant's vehicle accident, while not bringing down the mood of the show".

An insider from the show has revealed to The Sun that explaining the 42-year-old's absence has been the most hard aspect of planning for this week's show.

At the moment, the ITV entertainment programme is called 'Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway,' but now viewers are demanding that Ant's name is removed from the titles altogether.

Speaking about going it alone, Dec said in a statement: "Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of "Saturday Night Takeaway" will go ahead".

A third suggested: "Good luck @antanddecofficial Dec, you will smash it as always".

A Saturday Night Takeaway source told the paper: "Dec is very much the solo host tonight - it's not going to be him and a sidekick".

"We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that".
