LAPD Considers Adea Shabani Disappearance as a Homicideā€

Sheriff's deputies in rural Nevada County have uncovered a buried body and they believe it could be connected to a missing Los Angeles actress. Last week, a man who is believed to be her boyfriend - 33-year-old Christopher Spotz - shot and killed himself following a pursuit and standoff in Riverside County.

The 25-year-old was last seen in Hollywood on February 23, having recently moved to the United States from Macedonia to pursue a modeling and acting career.

Just months prior to her disappearance, Shabani had moved to Hollywood from Macedonia to pursue a modeling and acting career, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Discrepancies in Spotz's alibi raised warning bells but he disappeared before police could track him down for further questioning.

Nevada County Sheriff's Office took to Facebook to declare that they along with their coroner's division have found the body Tuesday morning, March 27, in a shallow grave at Spenceville Wildlife Area in Penn Valley, California.

Despite what a friend told KTLA earlier, authorities have not positively identified the remains as Adea Shabani's; a cause of death was also under investigation, though police said they suspect she was the victim of a homicide. Their argument ended with Spotz dropping her off when they were driving through Santa Clarita. They did eventually gather other information during the search that led them to the shallow grave where the remains were found on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Police Captain Billy Hayes said an autopsy set to be performed on Wednesday will confirm the deceased's identity.

Her friends told local TV station KABC that they became anxious for Shabani when she stopped responding to their text messages.

Shabani was apparently last spotted in the Tacoma, LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera told the Times.

"Something happened and I believe it to be somewhat untoward", he said at a downtown Los Angeles news conference. Surveillance video obtained by the LAPD showed Shabani and Spotz in an elevator in her apartment. At some point, information led authorities to the lake at the Woods Wildlife Area in Nicholas, California, but were not successful in finding anything.

The source said the two were romantically linked, although a friend of Spotz who spoke with KTLA Monday night said he was unaware of a romantic relationship between them. On March 22, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies found Spotz in his vehicle in the area of the 10 and 15 Freeways.
