Titans set to sign former Patriot Malcolm Butler”

Malcolm Butler is officially moving on from the Patriots. One figures the Patriots will take a long look at this year's draft class, which is considered deep.

Butler will join new head Mike Vrabel, general manager Jon Robinson and cornerback Logan Ryan, all of whom spent time in New England.

The contract has been reported as four years in length and will pay Lewis as a "top 10 running back".

Immediately after the game, Butler tearfully told ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss that the Patriots "gave up" on him, and nearly as quickly, rumors - all false - began to crop up that Butler's benching was a punishment.

The Titans declined to comment because free agency does not begin until Wednesday afternoon. By seasons end, he was known for not playing a single defensive snap in New England's Super Bowl LII loss, a curious decision by Bill Belichick that still has Patriots fans searching for answers.

The cornerback was well-respected in the Patriots' locker room and played last season under a $3.9 million tender offer.

In his rookie season with the Patriots, the Vicksburg High School alum made National Football League history with an incredible game-ending interception in Super Bowl XLIX.

Butler's Patriots career ended on a odd, disappointing note as Bill Belichick benched him for all defensive snaps in Super Bowl LII. That offseason, the Patriots signed corner Stephon Gilmore to a five-year, $65 million contract.

The Titans ranked 13th in total defense and improved slightly against the pass, giving up 239.3 yards through the air to move from 30th in 2016 to 25th overall.

Look for the Titans to add another running back to complement Derrick Henry after releasing DeMarco Murray. He ran for 135 yards on 33 carries and caught 16 passes for 111 yards in New England's three postseason games.

Last year, Lewis racked career highs in rushing attempts (180) and yards (896).
