Trump Says US Working To Counteract Russian Election Interference In 2018 Midterms”

President Trump Tuesday appeared to make a concession to reality: "Certainly there was meddling" in the 2016 presidential elections, he said.

"The Russians had no impact on our votes whatsoever", said Trump, who has repeatedly played down the Russian influence and has strongly rejected allegations of collusion between his election campaign and Moscow. But, wait for it, "probably there was meddling from other countries, and maybe other individuals".

Trump said he is not anxious about Russian interference in the USA election.

The indictment prompted a wave of partisan finger-pointing, as Republicans accused former President Barack Obama's administration of having been too soft on Russian Federation, while Democrats excoriated President Donald Trump's administration for not taking decisive steps to punish or repudiate Moscow's efforts to interfere in an American election.

"I think they're honest also because of the sanctions and what we're doing with respect to North Korea", Trump said. "One of the things we're learning is it's always good - it's old-fashioned, but it's always good - to have a paper backup system of voting".

"Because we'll counteract whatever they do".

"But the White House has a tremendous energy, and we have tremendous talent". Lofven said he and Trump agree that the result of the election in the country should be decided by nobody else but the voters in that country.

"Everybody wants to be there", Trump added.

So China doesn't send us two percent; they send us a much, much higher level than that, but it's called transshipping.

Putin added in Wednesday's remarks he was disappointed in the USA political system, which he said has "demonstrated its inefficiency and has been eating itself up". Löfven insisted that free trade is important for the European Union, but Trump appeared unwavering in his decision and said the European Union had been unfair and tough towards the US.

"It has not changed the calculus or the behavior on behalf of the Russians", Rogers said about the U.S. response to Russia's cyber threat to date.

"I think you have to be really watching very closely". Putin said they didn't work on behalf of his government. China, contrary to media reports, sends more than two per cent of the steel to the U.S., he said.

Asked if he was disappointed with Trump, Putin told state TV that he had no such feeling, adding he had a very positive impression of Trump, whom he met on the sidelines of worldwide summits past year.

"I really believe they are honest". And North Korean leadership even expressed a willingness to have talks with the United States in hopes of normalizing the relationship. Warmbier died shortly after being returned to the U.S. The U.S. has no formal diplomatic relations with North Korea.

After intelligence officials concluded that Russian hackers breached the DNC in the summer of 2016, then-candidate Trump said, "I mean, it could be Russia, but it could also be China". "No, because we'll counter act whatever they do".
