Suspended LB Smith reportedly enters rehab after alleged domestic incident”

Police said the victim suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.

Smith's fiancée, Shawna McKnight, is the alleged victim and told TMZ Sports that the athlete called her parents to help him check into rehab. She reported to a police dispatcher around 8:30 p.m. that Smith was beating her up at her residence in the 600 block of Bush Street. Police said several shots were fired, two partygoers were injured, and Smith was stabbed.

"I can tell you this".

Smith played nine games for Oakland in 2015, with seven starts, and had 3.5 sacks.

Last year, Smith was detained for "public intoxication" after a auto crash with an unmarked police vehicle.

In the past Smith has also been detained as a suspect for making false bomb threats at an airport in 2014, and he was charged with possession of illegal assault weapons in 2013.

Smith's future looked bright after being drafted by the 49ers with the seventh-overall pick in 2011.

Investigators want to speak with Smith regarding the incident.

It goes without saying, the most important outcome is that all parties involved can get help and safety during this time. Smith fled the San Francisco home before officers arrived.

Smith was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, which is the same year he made the Pro Bowl and was named first-team All-Pro. But the NFL, in reaction to his numerous brushes with the law and the league's substance abuse policy, suspended Smith for a year on November 17, 2015, and has yet to reinstate him.
