Former NFL player detained for Instagram post

Former NFL player detained for Instagram post”

In a posting on social media, Martin posted a picture of a shotgun and shells, with the name of his own high school #HarvardWestlake and the #MiamiDolphins listed on the gun. LAPD said that the closure was because of actions by a "former student of the preparatory school [who] apparently used Instagram to say he wanted to seek revenge for alleged bullying he underwent when he attended one of the school".

The message added that the school's private security team was working with LAPD officers, who were present on campus.

In a statement released to the school, President Rick Commons said that members of the administration made a decision to halt campus operations temporarily after they discovered an alumnus's Instagram post that suggested an attack on the school and specifically mentioned Harvard-Westlake.

According to a piece that ran in USA TODAY Sports, Martin was in the process of attempting to check himself into the hospital when he was detained by authorities.

Albarran said they were notified of the Instagram post Thursday night, which was made by a student who attended the school about a decade or so ago.

Former Dolphins OL Jonathan Martin with some seriously disturbing stuff on his IG story. "I don't know what his thoughts are and I don't really care, honestly".

The post also mentioned the Instagram usernames of former Miami Dolphins players Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey.

Harvard-Westlake issued a statement on the situation Friday. An NFL investigation by Ted Wells found that Incognito, Pouncey and John Jerry were responsible for the harassment. A few months later he revealed in a Facebook post that he attempted suicide multiple times during his National Football League career and struggled socially and emotionally while attending John Thomas Dye and Harvard-Westlake.

"At Harvard-Westlake, we try to teach with everything that we do, including teaching how to do things the right way and teaching what's the right way to be with every single thing we do - arts, academics, athletics, operations, everything", Barzdukas said in the article.

The Carolina Panthers claimed Martin, the Dolphins' 2012 second-round pick, off waivers in March, but Martin retired before training camp opened in 2015, citing a back injury. "Neither black nor white people accept you because they don't understand you".

The image was circulated among students at Harvard-Westlake and was shared with CNN.
