Met Office Forecasts Polar Vortex Will Batter Britain With Siberian Snowfall

Tomorrow, Saturday, February 24 will be cloudy with some sunny periods. yes, it will feel quite cold with top temperatures of just 5C, but no snow is expected.

Saturday and Sunday will be even colder still, with lows of -2 and -3 on Saturday and Sunday night respectively, with a widespread sharp to severe frost.

March will have arrived by the end of next week so regardless of your take on the seasons, winter will finally be over, although we're not getting our hopes up for suitable weather to mark the occasion.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for snow, urging extra caution on Tuesday as the bitter icy chill is set to hit the whole of Yorkshire.

Experts have cautioned that weather warnings are on the cards as snow is set to batter the country once again.

"This happens because we will have a prevailing westerly wind, when it arrives winds tend to separate and change track before meeting again from opposite directions". Over the coming days, apart from an isolated shower, it's very unlikely.

The coldest air is projected to affect eastern Europe and Scandinavia, where temperature departures from average could reach almost 40 degrees Fahrenheit below average for this time of year.

"Showers will bring a large variation in amounts of snow across even small areas with some places seeing very little".

Some places, particularly along exposed coastal areas, will also see blustery conditions and wintry showers of sleet and hail.

It will be very cold on Monday night with a severe frost and the risk of snow showers along northern and eastern coasts. However it will remain cold, with a strengthening southeasterly breeze. There will be some further sleet and snow, but it doesn't look to be extensive.
