Mauricio Pochettino To Ring Tottenham Changes In FA Cup Tie”

Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is adamant that Tottenham will ease to a comfortable win over Rochdale in the FA Cup fifth round.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says his side must put the FA Cup on the back-burner and concentrate on Premier League and European glory.

"This is a different game and a different competition, and it will be tough".

Yet Pochettino believes Tottenham, starved of silverware since winning the 2008 League Cup and without an FA Cup success in almost three decades, should be aiming higher than the world's oldest club competition.

The Dale have suffered heavily as league games were cancelled due to the pitch being unfit to play on, leaving them with four games in hand on their relegation rivals.

"Of course the effort that he made in the last few weeks was incredible and of course we need to care, no?"

"He twisted his ankle, he received some knocks", Pochettino said of Kane.

He added: "It is a massive challenge for us to stay at the same level".

Kane's likely absence could pave the way for Lucas Moura to make his first start for Tottenham following his January move from Paris Saint-Germain.

And Pochettino said winning a domestic cup would not define success at Spurs. After a busy period in the Premier League and Champions League it's important to assess every single player.

Meanwhile Rochdale chairman Chris Dunphy said: "I was on the pitch last (Thursday) night, it's like a snooker table".

"After the replay [against Newport], I was with my coaching staff and [County manager] Michael Flynn and all the Newport coaching staff".

"I was conscious about the FA Cup, the football, and the image that we are going to sell, but care for the players, too". The effort was massive to put the pitch in the best condition to play without risk.

"I thought we were going have a good old gritty cup tie and then Rochdale made a decision to put down a new pitch", Nicholas told Sky Sports.

"I loved watching Roy play because he was passionate and a fantastic player".
