Chinese woman follows her bag into X-ray security scanner

Chinese woman follows her bag into X-ray security scanner”

The woman, who has not been identified, was X-rayed at a railway station in Dongguan, Guangdong province, on Sunday evening.

A video shared online showed the woman placing her luggage on the conveyor belt of the machine, before walking through the security scanner with a small handbag. Fine by her, but she followed, crawling into the machine with her handbag.

Despite the best efforts of the machine's operators to deter the woman, she travels the full length of the conveyor and emerges, along with assorted items of baggage, at the far end.

However, after being told that she must also scan her handbag, she climbed on the machine, Hong Kong based South China Morning Post reported.

Dongguan Railway Station staff then found it necessary to send out warnings that passengers should avoid exposing themselves to harmful radiation emitted from X-ray machines.

A woman was so concerned about the safety of her bag that she refused to let it out of her sight for a second.

An obviously bewildered staff wasn't really clear on the valuables the bag contained that made the woman do something so unwonted, but the assumption is that it probably had a lot of cash, given out as a tradition in Chinese New Year.

Passengers behaving oddly at railway stations is nothing new in China, especially during the Lunar New Year period as tens of millions of people make their annual journeys home to spend the holiday, which officially starts on Thursday, with their families.
