DC to President Trump: No thanks, and no tanks!

DC to President Trump: No thanks, and no tanks!”

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked for a military parade showcasing America's armed forces, a Pentagon spokesman said Tuesday.

He was impressed by a French military parade in Paris on Bastille Day a year ago, and spoke publicly about wanting a similar one in the U.S.

Trump in September mused about holding a French-style military parade in Washington during the U.S. Independence Day celebration.

USA media report that Veterans Day on November 11th or Independence Day on July 4th are possible dates for the parade.

"We are aware of the request and are in the process of determining specific details", said a Pentagon spokesperson in a statement. "'This is being worked at the highest levels of the military'".

However, the Post story quoted an official in the White House as saying, "The president wants to do something that highlights the service and sacrifice of the military and have a unifying moment for the country".

Mr Mattis appeared at the briefing to lay out an argument for fully funding the military - shortly after Senate leaders announced that they had struck a deal on a budget that includes a major boost in military spending.

We haven't always done it perfectly, but the American soldiers who fought in World War I and World War II left their homes and traveled thousands of miles to fight for freedom on foreign soil.

According to the AFP news agency, Macron plans to visit the US capital in late April, and will be the first foreign leader to be given the full pomp of a state occasion, which includes a meal in the White House's State Dining Room. You know, it has nothing to do with his lack of military service, but more to do with his lack of judgment to think that this is appropriate.

Russian Federation also has an annual Victory Day military parade in Moscow in May to mark the defeat of Nazi Germany.

In 1991, a parade was held in Washington to celebrate victory in the Gulf War.

President Donald Trump has asked the Pentagon to hold a military parade through the streets of the United States capital as a celebration for the country's military servicemen. And with Democrats willing to shutdown the government, including defense spending, all because they're pitching a fit about millions of illegal aliens not getting citizenship, what better time to float the idea of honoring our military? But he said what he called a "Soviet style hardware display" would be "cheesy" and show weakness instead of strength.

But a military parade could be hard from a logistical standpoint, the Post notes. Some supported the idea, saying the parade would be a sign of "standing up for USA", while others criticized it as another case of Trump bragging about his nuclear button. "That military may come marching down Pennsylvania Avenue", he told the Post prior to his inauguration.

China also has regular military parades in Beijing showing its increasing military might.
