Pak-India tension intensifies on Kashmir Solidarity Day

Pak-India tension intensifies on Kashmir Solidarity Day”

Four Indian soldiers, including a 22-year-old Captain, were killed and four other persons injured on Sunday in Pakistani firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

Also, the reports are coming that Pakistan intensified firing at Indian military posts and villages along the Line of Control or LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts Sunday morning, violating the ceasefire.

Ruling PDP MLA Javaid Beig said that instead of provoking Pakistan, the House should appeal to both the countries to start a dialogue to resolve outstanding issues.

Veeri further informed that ceasefire violation was also reported from Sunderbani where one BSF Jawan namely ASI Ajab Singh sustained injuries.

Those who died included Captain Kapil Kundu, who would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on February 10.

Referring to the 2016 surgical strikes, the Minister said, "When the Army carried out surgical strikes it didn't tell the media about it".

He said that almost 250 migrant families have occupied the class rooms for the past about 10 months as a result of which the students had no option but to take their classes under the open sky.

Ahir's statement came after four soldiers were killed and another injured in the ceasefire violation initiated by Pakistan in Rajouri district on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif last week informed the Senate that Indian troops committed over 170 ceasefire violations along the LoC and Working Boundary (WB) in January 2018.

India and Pakistan have a long history of bitter relations over Kashmir, a Himalayan territory divided between them and claimed by both in its entirety. Poonch had also been targetted previously, and the Pakistani army had used automatic weapons and mortars to cause damage to people and property. According to data provided by the Union home ministry, there were a total of 583 cases of ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in 2014, 405 in 2015, 449 in 2017, and 840 in 2017.
