Central Intelligence Agency chief: We will steal secrets on behalf of the American people”

CIA Director Mike Pompeo was interviewed by the on Monday and answered questions about Russia's possible interference in the 2018 midterm elections. In his remarks to almost 200 AEI members and guests, Director Pompeo highlighted his approach to leading the Agency and his strong belief that the CIA workforce should be positioned to execute our mission free from unnecessary obstacles and overbearing bureaucracy. We see it in our hospitals and medicals systems.

"Think about the scale of the two economies", Pompeo said on Russian Federation and China.

On January 17, former Central Intelligence Agency officer Jerry Chun Shing Lee was arrested at the John F Kennedy Airport in NY, for allegedly spying for China.

"Asked if his concerns extended to the upcoming U.S. mid-term elections in November, Pompeo told the BBC: "Of course. It is also true in other parts of the world. including Europe and the United Kingdom", he said". These efforts we have to all be more focused on.

Officials are unsure whether the disastrous intelligence failure was due to a mole or a data hack. He added that more efforts need to be made towards combating the Chinese influence on the West as the Asian nation has a more wide-range ability to show its impact.

Pompeo further informed that that the Chinese "have a much bigger footprint" than the Russians do, as an example he quoted the efforts to steal USA commercial information and infiltration of schools and hospitals.

But it also includes the way in which it uses its economic weight to influence American companies seeking access to its market. "We have to do better at pushing back against Chinese efforts to covertly influence the world".

"But I am confident that America will be able to have a free and fair election".

He also repeated his message that North Korea is close to developing missiles that could be used in a nuclear attack on the US.

He said that Russian intelligence agencies have continued in their attempts at subversion in Europe and the United States, according to the BBC.

"While President Trump stands practically idle, Mr. Putin continues to refine his asymmetric arsenal and look for future opportunities to disrupt governance and erode support for the democratic and global institutions that the United States and Europe have built over the last 70 years".
