Congress MLA Asha Kumari Slaps Woman Constable, And Then This Happened”

Congress MLA from Dalhousie and All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Asha Kumari on Friday courted a controversy after she slapped a woman constable outside the party office in Shimla. She said, "The constable was abusing and pushing me, trying to stop me from entering the party office even after I showed her pass to identify myself".

However, Kumari reportedly ordered the lady cop to allow her to go through and attend the meet, telling her that she was an elected legislator and had been invited for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has reacted to the incident, said, "I am not happy with it".

A Congress MLA, Asha Kumari and a woman constable Rajvanti ended up slapping each other in a crowded spot after a brief argument broke out between them.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi is on a day-long visit to Shimla today and will review the party's performance in the recently-held Himachal Pradesh assembly election. "I apologize", she said. No one has a right to raise a hand against someone, at least not the Congress culture.

In a spontaneous reaction, the constable too slapped Asha, which left the MLA perturbed.

When the incident happened, Rahul was inside the party office where he was meeting MLAs, defeated candidates and local leaders to discuss the defeat of the Congress. In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi was expected to meet the party legislators.

The Congress managed to bag just 21 seats, while the BJP won 44 seats in the 68-member assembly.
