Lake Effect Snow Prompts Winter Weather Advisory In NW Indiana

Lake Effect Snow Prompts Winter Weather Advisory In NW Indiana”

A winter storm watch is in effect from this evening through Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Buffalo reported.

Much of the area saw a fresh blanket of two to four inches of snow since Wednesday afternoon.

"Most of it'll be done by sunrise tomorrow, but it will probably all fall as snow", weather service meteorologist Patrick O'Hara said Wednesday.

Meteorologist Chris Strong at the weather service said the goal of the statement is "to emphasize that if conditions are right, very small amounts of snow can cause very big problems for commuting times, as we've seen in many instances over the past many years here in the D.C. metro area". Low around 22. There will be a 20 percent chance or snow at night.

The Centre Region could see its first measurable snowfall of the winter Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

An Alberta Clipper (a fast-moving snow system originating from Alberta, Canada) will pass through the Great Lakes, and those north of I-96 will have a half-foot or more of new snow by the end of the day. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Partly sunny, with a high near 41.
