Google Assistant Lands on Older Android Devices

Google Assistant Lands on Older Android Devices”

Google Assistant, the search giant's voice-assistant powered by Artificial intelligence and machine learning, is now rolling out to Android tablets and Android phones running Android Lollipop 5.0 versions.

Google promised an Android version for low-end devices and now, it's making good on its word by introducing the new Android Oreo Go.

The update will also be rolling out to users in Italy, Japan, Brazil, Germany and Korea. Once you get the update and opt-in, you'll see an Assistant app icon in your "All apps" list, the company announced in a blog post.

Called The Complete Android Oreo with Kotlin Bundle, this training bundle helps you move from desire to achievement in 105 training hours.

As with handsets, Google is offering the Google Assistant to tablet devices set to English, although it's not rolling it quite as far back as with mobiles. Unfortunately, in addition to requiring Android 7.0 Nougat, the update rolling out this week will only work with tablets set to English and in the US only. For now, only the Android tablet users in the U.S. will receive the feature. What will you ask your Assistant first?

Besides some Android phones and tablets, Assistant is also available on Google Home and other smart speakers and appliances, iPhones, Google Allo, and Android Wear devices. Android Marshmallow, meanwhile, accounts for about 29.7 percent of all Android devices running the OS, as per official Android distribution chart. Google also notes that it now has more users in India than it does in the United States, so the first devices to take advantage of Android Oreo Go might launch in India.
