President Trump gives boost to Roy Moore at Florida rally”

President Donald Trump dismissed a woman who accused Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual assault and told people to "go out and vote" for Moore during a Friday rally in Florida.

Trump concluded his riff by saying, "Get out and vote for Roy Moore..." Senate Republicans want nothing to do with Moore after The Washington Post published allegations that Moore inappropriately touched a 14-year-old when he was 32, and five other teenagers who say he made advances on them.

Trump had done similar calls for incumbent Sen.

In the interview, Moore again denied the allegations of sexual misconduct against him, and said that he did not know the women who have accused him of sexual assault or molestation.

The president is still incredibly popular in Alabama, a state he won by almost 30 points in November.

Earlier in the day, Ms Nelson acknowledged that she added a notation under a high school yearbook inscription she says Mr Moore wrote in 1977. You know the yearbook? "Did you see that?"

"I have stated both publicly and privately over the last month that unless these allegations were proven to be true I would continue to plan to vote for the Republican nominee, Judge Roy Moore", John Merrill, Alabama secretary of state, said in a text message to The Associated Press.

The rest of Trump's speech at the rally was a standard assortment of boasts and attacks. There was a little mistake made. "Jones will always vote against what we must do for our Country".

Sen. Richard Shelby explained on Sunday why he didn't vote for Roy Moore.

If Moore wins, Shelby said, the Senate will have to weigh his "fitness to serve".

Moore might still lose what should be an easily winnable race for a Republican.

That's why it was so notable when the White House said the president wouldn't explicitly campaign for Moore. "We can't have a Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Democrat, Jones, in that important Alabama Senate seat".

Steve Bannon, former chief White House strategist and ardent Moore supporter, presents the election as a choice between Trump and his 2016 presidential election rival Hillary Clinton. He explicitly went down south to campaign for Roy Moore.
