Instagram just added new ways to use its Stories feature”

Stories Archive is an extension of the existing Archive feature that lets you hide existing posts to your archive so only you can view them later.

You can add up to 100 photos or videos to a Story Highlight, and there's no limit to how many Highlights you can create. The first story from each day will have a date indicator to help you navigate your archive as you scroll. Basically, if you use Stories a lot, you can make compilation Stories from past videos you have shared. The highlights could be saved for individual story reels which would appear as circles on the user's profile. With Stories Archive enabled, your Stories won't disappear after 24-hours anymore.

Stories Highlights is a new part of your profile where you can save your favourite Stories.

By tapping the new icon, users can access both archived Stories and posts.

Today we're introducing two new tools to help you hold on to your favorite moments from Instagram Stories and share them in new ways that help you express yourself. The latter will appear in a grid with the most recent ones at the top. Users need to tap on the 'New'circle on the left to create a highlight.

Brands would fall more in love with Highlights as compare to regular users as the feature offers an easy way to bundle together related stuff and keep it surfaced at some prominent place in the app.

Whereas before you had to manually save your Stories so you won't lose them after 24 hours, now you can just let Instagram do all the work.

Today's updates are available as part of Instagram version 25 on iOS and Android. With the name archive we can understand that it will be related to saving your present stories. This feature is passive and active all the time, so you don't have to do anything special to take advantage of it. In fact, they will stay on the app permanently until you remove them. If you have comments regarding the new update do share them below in comments section.
