Google to yank Youtube from Amazon in nasty giant fight

Google to yank Youtube from Amazon in nasty giant fight”

YouTube will be removed from the Echo Show immediately, and on January 1 2018, the same will be done for Amazon Fire TV. But Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest's latest products.

Fire TV owners, I hope you don't enjoy watching much YouTube, because the app is about to disappear from your device.

Both companies said they hope to resolve the issue quickly. The application eventually made its way back to the Amazon Echo Show recently, as intended, but the shopping giant has already taken the interesting step of removing Google hardware from its sales. And yesterday afternoon, Google once again pulled YouTube from the Amazon Echo Show by blocking the device from showing the web version of the app.

Amazon didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The dispute between Amazon and Google mirrors the face-offs that occasionally crop up between pay-TV providers and TV networks when it comes time to re-negotiate their deals.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook first announced Prime Video support for Apple TV at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, but the app's release had been delayed for unknown reasons.

The feud between Amazon and Google is escalating, and consumers may soon notice it in a pretty big way.

Google and Amazon's issues go beyond this sticking point. In November, Amazon introduced a redesigned interface for the video streaming service, and Google said everything was A-OK. The group, USTelecom, has been trying to persuade skeptics that internet providers will preserve equal access to all digital services, even if the Federal Communications Commission adopts a proposal to rescind current "net neutrality" regulations. Two years ago, Amazon ousted Chromecast from its store, even though that device had previously been its top-selling electronics gadget.

Amazon has also chose to stop selling the Nest E Thermostat, Nest's Camera IQ, and the Nest Secure alarm system through its sites.

Doing so deprives Amazon of one of the most popular video services in the world, which is supported on all of its rivals.
