'House of Cards' to continue without Kevin Spacey, reports say”

"We were really excited we could get to an agreement" to provide "closure of the show for fans", said Sarandos, speaking Monday at UBS's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY.

"We are really excited about being able to bring some closure for the fans", Sarandos said.

"While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of 'House of Cards, ' he has been suspended, effective immediately".

Filming is scheduled to resume early 2018. If the show had been cancelled and shut down, many people who had planned on having months worth of work to take them through Spring 2018 would be scrambling to find work elsewhere.

After the reports began to surface in late October, Netflix announced it was cutting ties with the actor.

Spacey was ultimately booted from the series following multiple accusations of sexual harassment.

During a conference today, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed that the show will continue and that the upcoming season has been reworked to have Claire Underwood at the centre of the show.

Last week MRC producers had informed "House of Cards" cast and crew that the hiatus on season 6 would be extended through December 8 and that the crew will continue to be paid during the break.

Claire Underwood has moved center stage since "House of Cards" premiered in 2013, going from the wife of Spacey's congressman to first lady and then vice president.

Current and former employees who worked on House of Cards told CNN that Spacey would target young men on the production team with "nonconsensual touching and crude comments".

Netflix is also jumping into the children's entertainment space as it will create 60 original kids series in-house next year, as well as its first animated movies.
