At least 3 people killed, 2 kids hurt in Northern California shooting

Three people are dead and multiple children are injured following shootings in multiple locations in Northern California.

Tehama County officials are responding to a reported shooting near a school in Rancho Tehama, near Corning. Two shooter had a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns.

"I don't believe it, because I wake up, take my kids, feed them cereal and put them in the truck, and say "let's go to school like a normal day".

"I am told the suspected shooter is deceased by law enforcement bullets", Johnston said. "I know that we have children that were attending school in a safe location at this time".

A helicopter medical crew reported they were transporting a 6-year-old victim to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

The shooter is understood to have been killed by law enforcement authorities.

He said that two officers shot at the suspect upon encountering him, and have since been removed from the scene.

There were a total of 10 people injured, and Tehama County Superintendent of Schools Rich DuVarney said no students or staff at the school were among the fatalities.

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said officers were investigating at least five crime scenes in the area. "That evolved to multiple victims and multiple shots at the school, at the elementary school".

The nearby Rancho Tehama Airport is also on lockdown. Brian Flint tells the Record Searchlight newspaper in the city of Redding on Tuesday that his neighbor, whom he knows only as Kevin, also stole his truck. Flint said the neighbor had been shooting "hundreds of rounds" from large magazines. "We offer our condolences to the families who lost loved ones and unite with all Californians in grief".
