Pixel 2 XL Screen Flashes When Locking or Unlocking, Some Users Report”

The feature already rolled out to Google's flagship Pixel phones last month and is now gradually rolling out to U.S. Android devices with Google Assistant.

What do you think of the Pixel 2's problems?

Android smartphone users will no longer need to pull out Shazam to identify songs on the go, as Google is rolling out a new feature to its built-in voice assistant software feature, Google Assistant, that will identify songs for them.

Fast Pair in particular is an awesome feature that's now available in only select few Made for Google headphones: Google Pixel Buds of course, Libratone's Q Adapt On-Ear, and Bose® QuietComfort 35 II. According to a separate post on Reddit, a user reported wear down of the oleophobic coating on his Pixel 2 XL. When we tested for the issue, for the most part Google Assistant seemed to be working fine (i.e. Google Assistant could be activated via the hotword, questions could be asked, and responses were received - all through the headset).

It's pretty rare these days to see the Pixel 2, and the Pixel 2 XL especially, in the news for anything other than the newest hardware issue cropping up. People are reporting an issue with the display flashing when it is switched off or on. Due to the number of comments that have been added to the post since then however, including ones from today and this week, it seems evident it is still a current issue. Some Pixel 2 XL owners said some they were seeing screen flashes when locking and unlocking their smartphones. Google is yet to come out with a fix for the issue. "I was able to replicate the issue by blowing into the bottom speaker. Yes..." A user also compared this to blowing into an old NES cartridge to get it to work again. Apparently, there is a fix that might bring the microphone back to work. "Blowing into the speaker when the microphone is working causes it to fail", Zeird wrote.
