Pakistan to allow wife to meet Kulbhushan Jadhav

Pakistan to allow wife to meet Kulbhushan Jadhav”

"The Government of Pakistan has determined to rearrange a gathering of Commander Kulbhushan Jhadav together with his mate, in Pakistan, strictly on humanitarian grounds", ministry proponent Mohammed Faisal same in a very statement.

The Pakistan Foreign Office today allowed Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet his wife on humanitarian grounds. There were speculation that the two countries discussed the issue in a recent meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Sawraj and the newly-appointed Pakistani High Commissioner to New Delhi Sohail Mahmood, Pakistani media said.

According to an ISPR press release, Kulbhusan Sundir Jadhav alias Hussein Mubarak Patel was arrested on March 3, 2016, through a counter-intelligence operation from Mashkel area of Balochistan for his involvement in espionage and sabotage actives in Pakistan.

Jadhav was sentenced to death earlier this year; however, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered a stay in his execution.

India had many times requested a Pakistani visa for Jadhav's mother, Avantika, who wished to meet her son in Pakistan prison. He has been in a Pakistani prison for 20 months. The Indian government refuted Pakistan's allegations as it said he was kidnapped from Iran where he had gone for some work related to his business.

India and Pakistan are fighting out the case in UN's International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague.

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested him from restive Balochistan province March 3 previous year after he reportedly entered from Iran. India had argued that Jadhav was not accorded the due process of law and was sentenced to death in an arbitrary manner. Islamabad, however, all of New Delhi's requests, claiming that since the Indian national faces espionage charges, Pakistan is not obligated to grant India consular access to him.

The ICJ has asked Pakistan to submit its response or memorial by December 13 so that the court can start further proceedings in the case.
