Google readying Android app to manage storage, share files without internet”

Essentially, Google has chose to capitalize on the interest in the new app, thanks to its exposure through media coverage.

Google apparently is working on a new file-transfer app for Android that works like Apple's AirDrop. For those of you with 128GB phones, this may not be something you care about, but if you have a phone like the Moto X4 pictured above, this is exactly the type of app that could come in handy. The main interface shows an overview of how much storage space is being used by files and offers tools to clean the app cache, or browse through other areas where files may have accumulated - like those received from a chat application, for example.

The in-app features include filters to select and view files, send-receive options and freeing up space on phone with smart cards.

Last year Google tested a Play Store feature that suggested deleting infrequently used apps to create storage space.

Google has launched a new Android app. If you have downloaded a lot of files, you can go to the Storage tab and delete those files.

Going by the naming scheme of the program, Google Files Go looks to be a part of the Android Go program that was announced at Google I/0 2017. However, one thing which is still missing from a Stock Android build is a dedicated File Manager app.

Let us know about your experience with the Files Go app in the comments below. It also enables you to share the files offline- quickly and securely. What File Manager do you use now on your smartphone?

The APK file of the Files Go app is around 5.41MB in size, lower than the size of the Shareit and Xender installation packages. This allows you to quickly uninstall apps that you are no longer using or you do not use regularly enough to justify the download.

The app is available now for anyone who wants to give it a shot.
