Trump Contradicts Account of Conversation From Widow of Fallen Service Member”

Myeshia Johnson, widow of Sgt La David Johnson, told ABC that the US President made her cry as "he couldn't remember my husband's name" until he looked at a report in front of him. And I was - it made me cry because I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said it.

Frederica Wilson and Trump have traded barbs for almost a week on the controversy stemming from the President's condolence call to Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt.

Rep. Wilson, a Florida congresswoman, says she was in the vehicle with Myeshia Johnson on the way to Miami International Airport to meet the body of Johnson's husband when Trump called. Wilson has been a friend of the Johnson family for years and Sgt. Johnson was in her 5000 Role Models program that pairs African-American boys with mentors who prepare them for college, vocational school or the military.

Wilson told NBC Miami on Tuesday that Trump's call was "insensitive", saying, "Everyone knows when you go to war you could possibly not come back alive, but you don't remind a grieving widow of that".

Johnson, who is expecting a daughter this January, said she's still waiting for answers regarding the circumstances of her husband's death. La David Johnson, who was killed in an ambush in Niger. Wilson has said she overhead the call on speakerphone.

He said: 'It stuns me that a member of congress would have listened in on that conversation.

Wilson's account of the phone call was "100 percent correct", Johnson told George Stephanopoulos Monday on Good Morning America. But Johnson backed up Rep. Wilson's version of events.

Johnson, 25, was one of four U.S. Special Forces - or Green Berets - killed in Niger when they were attacked October 4 by militants tied to the Islamic State.

'I don't know what's in that box - it could be empty for all I know, ' Myeshia continued. And they won't let me see anything. Trump tweeted that Wilson "fabricated" his statement and the fight escalated through the week.

"The timeline we have is the first indicator that the unit called for external support until an hour later", he said, explaining that it's unclear whether the soldiers felt they were able to handle the attack until then. Johnson said everyone in the vehicle was listening to Trump's call. "And that's what hurt me the most, because if my husband is out here fighting for our country and he risked his life for our country", she said.
