Nintendo Switch now supports GameCube controllers

Nintendo Switch now supports GameCube controllers”

In the console's recent 4.0 update, Nintendo allowed the GameCube controller to work with the Switch using its adapter.

Whether you're nostalgic for the early 2000's (someone is, right?), or, more importantly, deep into the Super Smash Bros. scene, the news that you can now use a GameCube controller with a Nintendo Switch will bring a smile to your face. What is nice about the implementation on the Switch is that support is not limited to a single game. The pad will be recognized as a wired USB pad. The GameCube controller, being a product of its time, obviously lacks a few buttons that the Switch Joy-Cons and Pro Controller have. Once plugged in, the controllers can be synced through the settings menu by pressing the L and R buttons.

Getting the GameCube controller to work is easy.

"Being a new and unknown game, we thought we would be left to do most of it on our own, but they were actually very involved and helped us out a lot with releasing it".

Another neat little nugget hidden in Nintendo Switch 4.0.0. As it turns out, the Nintendo Switch now supports GameCube controllers.

Since Nintendo made the Switch compatible with GameCube and didn't release the information, could this mean they're planning something to utilize the controllers?

As soon as we discovered that the GameCube controller adapter worked with the Nintendo Switch, an urgent thought pushed into our brains: "Is Nintendo preparing for something?" Additionally, the "Match Version with Local Users" now updates everyone's games to their latest versions, which is useful for people that have multiple profiles installed on one system.
