Journalist Zeenat Shahzadi recovered after two years from Pak-Afghan border

Journalist Zeenat Shahzadi recovered after two years from Pak-Afghan border”

26-year-old journalist Zeenat Shahzadi was abducted on August 19, 2015 from Lahore while she was on the way to work. She was recovered on Wednesday night from near the Pak-Afghan border, the report said.

Well-known Pakistani journalist and rights activist Beena Sarwar tweeted about Shahzadi being found: "Thrilled that the disappeared activist-journalist Zeenat Shehzadi is home safe".

Woman journalist Zeenat Shehzadi, who was abducted from Lahore more than two years ago has been recovered, officials say.

As a result, security agencies had admitted to the commission that Hamid was in their custody.

Pakistan's Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (CIED) said on Friday evening that Zeenat was rescued with the help of tribals from Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces. She had filed an application with the Supreme Court's Human Rights Cell on behalf of Fauzia Ansari, Hamid's mother. Fauzia was happy to hear the news of Zeenat being rescued, she said,"I was asked earlier that between Zeenat and my son whom I would want to be released first and I had said Zeenat".

Shahzadi was "forcibly disappeared" while she was working on the Indian citizen's case, according to PTI.

Shahzadi was reported to have been abducted by Pakistani agencies.

"I have met foreign minister Sushma Swaraj a number of times and she has assured me that all efforts were being made to secure Hamid's release as he has completed the three year jail term", she said.

Zeenat's family and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan believe Pakistan's Special Forces are responsible, because she fearlessly pursued an explosive story the spy agencies didn't want told.

The case described that Hamid Ansari, lives in Mumbai was arrested for illegally entering Pakistan from Afghanistan reportedly to meet a girl he had befriended online. A week before her disappearance, she was detained by plainclothed men and grilled for four hours after she spoke to the Indian High Commissioner at a public event.

She further added, "It was in Mecca when we first got in touch... seeking the God's help to find my son".

My sister has not committed any crime in helping an Indian national.
