Kelly 'Stunned, Broken-hearted' Over Trump Fallen Soldier Controversyā€¯

Republicans nix idea of pairing repeal with tax reform Fla. lawmaker warned officials before retirement home tragedy Florida Dem: "Abomination" that seniors were left at nursing home where 8 died MORE (D-Fla.) said President Trump's White House is "full of white supremacists" in a new interview Friday.

Sgt. Johnson was killed in action October 4 in Niger when his group was ambushed by what are being described as 50 Islamic militants armed with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns.

Watch Kelly's remarks for yourself in the video below, and tell me what you think.

"If you want to go after Gen. Kelly, that's up to you, but I think if you want to get into a debate with a four-star Marine general, I think that's something highly inappropriate", Sanders said in a White House press briefing.

Kelly issued the harsh rebuke against Wilson after describing how he was "stunned" and "heartbroken" that she had listened in on a call between Trump and the widow of a slain serviceman and then publicized its contents.

After President Trump drew criticism for how he talked to the families of US soldiers killed in action, White House chief of staff and retired Gen. John Kelly tried to put the controversy to rest.

Wilson responded to Kelly's remarks by calling it a "lie".

"I was stunned when I came to work yesterday morning and brokenhearted at what I saw a member of Congress doing", Kelly said.

"I didn't say what that congresswoman said".

"President Trump, two days ago, said that he never said that. He knew what the possibilities were because we're at war".

Kelly took to the White House podium on Thursday to say that he was "stunned" by Wilson's decision to take to the press to criticize Trump for his call with a Gold Star widow, though he did not dispute Wilson's claim that Trump told the widow of Sgt. In response, Kelly told him what General Joseph Dunford, now chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told him when Robert Kelly was killed. But a video of her remarks at the dedication shows she never took credit for getting the government to come up with the money for the project. But she said the comments were not part of Wilson's full speech. "Absolutely stuns me. And I thought at least that was sacred".

"What the hell is my son doing back in the fight?"

But Trump wanted to make the calls, and asked Kelly for advice on what to say. Kelly asked reporters, lamenting that the death of a USA soldier is no longer "sacred". "There are other people who heard what I heard".

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Trump promised Chris Baldridge of Zebulon, North Carolina, $25,000 of his own money when they spoke by phone last summer about the death of his son, Army Sergeant Dillon Baldridge, who was killed in Afghanistan.
