Air France A380 Lands Safely After Engine Blows to Pieces in Flight”

Air France said passengers were unharmed as the pilots were forced to land the plane in Goose Bay, Canada just after 3:30pm on Saturday, local time.

Canada following a "serious injury" on one of its four reactors, announced the company on Saturday in Paris.

The engine of an Air France plane from Paris to the U.S. disintegrated in the sky, forcing the aircraft into an emergency landing. It said teams have been dispatched to help passengers as the airline works to re-route them to Los Angeles and its connecting platforms.

Passengers were horrified when the engine fell apart following a "loud thud" and "vibration".

"We had a mid-air mayday when we lost one of our engines".

The images appeared to show that the inlet, or front part, of the engine had torn off, but the main part of the engine was intact.

According to Fox News, Air France released a statement praising the flight and cabin crew who "handled this serious incident perfectly".

"Technical issue identified, AF66 diverting per precaution to Goose Bay YYR for technical checks".
