California Would Take Big Hit With New GOP Health Bill

California Would Take Big Hit With New GOP Health Bill”

Hours after a bipartisan group of 10 governors joined groups like the AARP in opposition to the legislation, ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel weighed in, criticizing the plan and slamming Sen.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday backed the healthcare coverage plan crafted by GOP Senators Lindsey Graham of SC and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana - a measure giving states far more power over medical insurance.

In a statement released on Monday, Ducey said the proposal is the "best path forward to repeal and replace Obamacare" and that he will work with Congress and the Trump administration to "give states more flexibility and more options moving forward".

When asked if he could vote for a reconciliation bill that only defunded Planned Parenthood and stopped Obamacare's funding of abortion (but didn't otherwise touch Obamacare), Paul said he did not think he could.

Paul's decision to support "skinny repeal" but oppose Graham-Cassidy is more than a bit puzzling because Graham-Cassidy would repeal more of Obamacare than the "skinny repeal" would have. Lindsey Graham with a proposal that would undo the central pillars of former President Barack Obama's health care law, and replace them with block grants to states so they could make their own health care coverage rules.

President Donald Trump is backing a new push by Senate Republicans to repeal Obamacare and attacked Republican Kentucky Sen.

Kimmel also argued the bill would leave more without health care coverage and raise premiums.

"It is the Leader's intention to consider Graham-Cassidy on the floor next week", said a spokesperson for McConnell. "During the last month, we have worked hard and in good faith, but have not found the necessary consensus among Republicans and Democrats to put a bill in the Senate leaders' hands that could be enacted".

"I am disappointed that Republican leaders have chose to freeze this bipartisan approach and are trying to jam through a partisan Trumpcare bill", she said.

While the new bill does not allow states to waive the requirement that keeps insurers from rejecting people with preexisting conditions altogether, the waivers could end up allowing insurers to charge sick people drastically more money for coverage, essentially pricing them out of the market. "Two weeks ago, I'd have said zero [chance it'll pass], but now I'm anxious".

The Senate's longshot Obamacare repeal bill is starting to look possible. Bill Cassidy on his show to discuss health care.
