Some Rohingyas are linked to ISI, Pakistani terrorists

Some Rohingyas are linked to ISI, Pakistani terrorists”

SC agrees to hear plea challenging decision to deport Rohingya Muslim refugees in India.

The affidavit went on to say the government had reports from security agencies and other authentic sources "indicating linkages of some of the unauthorized Rohingya immigrants with Pakistan-based terror organizations and similar organizations operating in other countries".

The Centre added that some Rohingyas are indulging in illegal/ anti-national activities ie mobilisation of funds through hundi/ hawala channels.

Violence against Rohingyas lead to hundreds of cases of injury, death, destruction of property and displacement of 1.4 lakh people and around 1.2 lakh individuals shift to internally displaced camps in central Rakhine State in Myanmar.

The Centre said in the apex court: "As far as Rohingyas are concerned, they claimed to have entered from Myanmar using porous border between India and Myanmar". Two members of the Rohingya community registered with UNHRC, then filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

The country's home ministry has submitted an affidavit to the court saying it could confidentially share intelligence information with the Supreme Court showing Rohingya links to Isis and Pakistani militants.

Verma's statement follows Congress' assertion on the issues, and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi's claim that the affidavit filed by the Centre may not stand the legal scrutiny as refugees are also entitled to fundamental rights. Whatever the Government of India does, it will be in the nation's interest.

The continued stay of Rohingyas, who number about 40,000 in India, has serious national security ramifications.

Amid protests by sections of the island's influential Buddhist monks, who urged Sri Lanka not to accept Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims as refugees, the government has said it would not keep Rohingya asylum-seekers for long.

He asked the present dispensation to grant Rohingya Muslims the refugee status on the lines of India granted to Tibetans, Afghans and Lankans.

Many of those who had fled to India after the earlier spate of violence, were settled in Jammu, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan. Their petition says that the Centre's plan to deport them violated global conventions.

Last month, junior Indian Home Minister Kiren Rijiju told the Parliament that Rohingyas "are illegal immigrants and that the government aims to deport them". "I would like to request the International Human Rights Committee and Commissions to not spread anything wrong against India", he told media here. The Myanmar government considers the Rohingya to be economic migrants from Bangladesh.
