Four American Tourists Hospitalized After Acid Attack in France”

Police said the attack was not terror-related.

A 41-year-old man sprayed them with hydrochloric acid from a spray canister which is available in DIY shops.

French authorities are not investigating the acid attack as an act of terrorism for the time being.

A police spokeswoman told USA Today that the suspect did not yell any out any terror-linked threats.

The university said that all have them were treated at a hospital and have since been released.

She said all four of the women, who are in their 20s, were hospitalized, two of them for shock. The prosecutor's office in the capital, which has responsibility for all terror-related cases in France, did not explain the reasoning behind the decision.

Since November 2015, France has been on high alert after coordinated multi-site attacks killed at least 130 people in Paris.

The statement said that Boston College officials are in touch with the students and their parents. Local media in Marseille reported, citing unidentified police sources, that the alleged assailant has a history of mental health problems and that she allegedly told responding officers she was a victim of acid abuse and wanted others to suffer like she did. The teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbery and of causing grievous bodily harm.
