Four additional THAAD launchers to be installed in Seongju on Thursday:MND”

On Monday, the South's military launched a volley of ballistic missiles simulating an attack on the North's nuclear test site.

Some construction would be carried out to deploy the four launchers at the site in Seongju, south of Seoul, the defence ministry said in a statement.

On Sunday, North Korea carried out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test in further defiance against global pressure over its nuclear and missile programs.

Amid heightened tension around the North Korean nuke tests, South Korea said it will station an additional four THAAD air defense systems in the country's USA military base, local media said.

The deployment of THAAD is of great concern to China.

That same month, anti-THAAD activists had a tense standoff with police in Seongju over protesters attempting to stop and inspect vehicles which they suspected could be secretly delivering supplies for the missile defense system.

There are now two launchers at the location, a former golf course.

While North Korea claimed to possess a hydrogen bomb previous year, seismologists refuted the claim, suggesting that the subsequent natural disaster from that nuclear test was too small to have been the product of a pure fusion weapon.

The United States is considering, in addition to other options, stopping all trade with any country doing business with North Korea.

U.S. President Donald Trump seized the opportunity to chide Moon for his conciliatory attitude towards North Korea before these tests, tweeting on Sunday, "South Korea is finding, as I have told them, that their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing!"

"One shouldn't give in to emotions and drive North Korea into a corner", he continued, adding that all parties need to show composure and avoid "steps that lead to an escalation of tension".

The South Korean government is expected to deploy several thousand police to accompany the missiles, in anticipation of resistance and possible confrontation. Washington rejects the proposal; Putin insisted it "offers a genuine way to defuse the tensions and a step-by-step settlement".
