Missing student's body found; suspect to be charged”

A timeline leading up to the tragic discovery of Burleigh's body was released by Philadelphia police Sunday morning, including detectives' initial questioning of Hupperterz.

Philadelphia police said he had confessed to "elements of the crime". He has been charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.

Jenna Burleigh, 22, was reported missing on Thursday night, and was last seen on security footage leaving a bar near campus in north Philadelphia, with a man police have identified as Joshua Hupperterz, 29. No attorney was listed for Hupperterz, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20, according to court records.

Burleigh, an inhabitant of the Philadelphia suburb of Harleysville, exchanged to Temple.

Burleigh's body was found Saturday at Hupperterz's grandmother's property in a gated community in Paupack Twp., Wayne County.

Philadelphia police Commissioner Richard Ross Jr. said Saturday the case had struck a deep chord with him as the father of a 22-year-old himself.

A woman listed as the owner of the Wayne County home where Burleigh's body was found paid his bail during those initial charges, court documents showed.

A Times-Tribune story reported that Hupperterz, who was 25 at the time, broke into a Taylor Avenue home in Scranton in July 2013 and tried to steal a half keg of beer from a shower stall, among other items.

State police at Honesdale assisted Philadelphia police and the FBI with the current investigation. Classes at the university's Philadelphia campus had just begun Monday, and it had been Burleigh's first week at Temple, he said. She was majoring in film and media arts, Temple spokesman Ray Betzner said.

In a Facebook post shared Saturday, Edward Burleigh called his daughter a "beautiful angel" who is now in heaven. "Now I know for sure that you can have a "broken heart" RIP honey".
