New "Star Wars Battlefront II" Trailer Teases Epic Dogfights

New

What you're seeing is not gameplay but was captured in-engine, so keep that in mind when looking at the impressive-looking footage.

For updates on Starfighter Assault and the new hero ships that will be revealed during Gamescom, head to the EA Star Wars blog.

The space fights for Battlefront II are being made by Criterion - the same developer who created the first Battlefront's side title, Rogue One VR mission, which rolled out a year ago. Unless the ghost of Obi-Wan has put a mind-altering Force trick on my noggin, that sure looks like Yoda adorably manning the cockpit of a Jedi Starfighter to me. In the trailer, we see Resistance X-Wing Starfighters and the aforementioned Millennium Falcon attack a patrol of First Order fighters, clearing a path to the First Order Star Destroyer.

Call of Duty: WWII launches on 3 November, while Star Wars: Battlfront 2 is set for release just two weeks after that.

We see space battles taking place above Trade Federation outposts, where Republic fighters take on the Separatists. Space battles were notably absent upon the release of Star Wars Battlefront in 2015 before finally making their way into the game via DLC, and it looks like EA is rectifying that mistake by including large scale space battles from the prequel era and original trilogy.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches in the United Kingdom on October 17th.
