Microsoft's new payment plan makes Surface devices more affordable

Microsoft's new payment plan makes Surface devices more affordable”

Subject to credit approval, regular consumers looking into Surface Plus will be able to purchase Surface hardware on a 24-month plan with 0 percent April.

The Business offering also allows financing of a 55-inch Surface Hub, Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Book, and Surface Studio.

Upgrading will require turning in the previous Surface computer, which must be both "functional" and "in good condition", according to Microsoft.

With the Surface Plus program, customers can purchase a Surface device with an easy 24 month payment plan at 0% April.

The Surface Plus for Business plan has three payment terms, with the ability to upgrade devices after 12 months or 18 months, depending on the payment-term selected.

The monthly cost is simply the price of the Microsoft computer divided by 24, as there are no interest fees.

Under the program, which covers the Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Studio, customers will be able to purchase a Surface device through a 24-month payment plan with no interest. It's a simple plan to enable customers to jump on the hardware that Microsoft has so meticulously created. As Mary Jo Foley at ZDNet notes, it isn't at all clear how Surface Plus for Business compares to - or works with - last year's Surface as a Service business leasing program.

The company has also promised dedicated support and service and free technical help and in-store support for one year as a part of the Surface Plus plan.

Financing is offered to businesses in different increments, with the option to upgrade devices during the tenure of the financing.

Device Protection: Surface Plus for Business offers peace of mind with the Microsoft Complete for Business extended service plan with accidental damage protection.

With Surface Plus, you can now pay a low monthly fee for a new Surface device and at the end of the lease term, return it as a trade in for the newest model.

Those who finance under this program are given the option of upgrading their device after 18 months have passed, just like with a smartphone.
