Mob attacks India opposition leader Gandhi in Gujarat

Mob attacks India opposition leader Gandhi in Gujarat”

Earlier in the day, Rahul cornered Prime Minister Modi, calling the incident the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) way of politics.

Gandhi had faced protests in flood-hit Dhanera town of Banaskantha district in Gujarat where alleged BJP supporters hurled a cement brick at his vehicle and showed him black flags, but he escaped unhurt.

Gandhi also faced hostile black-flag waving crowd shouting slogans in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tour of flood-hit Dhanera town, forcing the Congress to cancel a scheduled public meeting. I hope and pray that our leaders do not get swayed by the temptations put forward by these forces and keep the people of the state and the peaceful atmosphere in mind and stay away from the proponents of the Hindu Rashtra. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's auto was attacked on Friday when he was on his way from Lal Chowk to the helipad in Dhanera in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. Meanwhile, Congress workers also protested outside BJP headquarter in Delhi against the attack.

At the Congress press briefing on scams of the builder-turned Maharashtra housing minister Prakash Mehta, senior party MP Husain Dalwai from Mumbai also condemned the stoning of Rahul's auto at a Congress press briefing as a serious matter, saying it shows that the BJP government can stoop down to do anything.

In a "Gandhigiri" style of protest against Friday's attack on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat, Youth Congress workers in the city on Saturday showered flowers on the BJP office at suburban Ghatkopar in Mumbai.

Gandhi had yesterday faced protests in flood-hit Gujarat where a man pelted a stone at his vehicle. "Darji is the secretary of Banaskantha district BJP Yuva Morcha".

Maken said the three-year rule of the BJP at the Centre could be described in just one word - pattharbaazi (stone-throwing). He pointed out that Gandhi is a national leader and his security was the responsibility of the BJP-led Gujarat government which has deliberately neglected it. "Rahul Gandhi was under SPG protectee when he was attacked by a boulder".

"On Friday such a large stone was thrown by the BJP workers".

Indirectly referring to the prime minister, Rahul Gandhi said, "Why the one, who has done this, would condemn the incident?"

He tweeted: I condemn the unfortunate attack on Rahul Gandhi's convoy.
