Australian woman shot and killed by police officer in Minneapolis”

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB)- Western New Yorkers are mourning the loss of a woman shot and killed Saturday night by police in Minnesota. A woman also drew colourful chalk hearts on the driveway where the woman was shot, with the names of people who have been fatally shot by police.

Ms Damond, whose maiden name is believed to be Ruszczyk and who was a qualified veterinary surgeon but working as a spiritual healer, was due to marry 50-year-old Mr Damond, whose name she had already taken, next month.

"We are so sad to report the tragic shooting of Justine Damond", officials with the center wrote in a Facebook post.

Here's the police report from the Minneapolis Police.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it was a hard time for the family, who were trying to come to terms with the tragedy. The BCA said the officers' body cameras were not turned on and their patrol auto camera did not capture the incident.

Investigators are seeking video of the incident.

An Australian woman was allegedly shot dead by police in the U.S. city of Minneapolis.

She had training as a veterinarian and ran meditation workshops.

"We would like to say more and will in the future".

Ms Damond spent some of her early childhood years in the Buffalo area of NY. Zach referred to Justine as his mother in a statement to the Star Tribune.

Sterlace talked to her father after it happened and said her family is just heartbroken. "It is hard to fathom how to go forward without her in my life".

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges called the shooting a "tragedy" and said she was "sad and disturbed". She reportedly held dual citizenship in both the United States and Australia, as her father is a us citizen.

He said: 'Basically my mum was shot for reasons I don't know. "And we want to remember Justine tonight, and call for answers, but we want just to remember and respect Justine, tonight, and her family, and share our love for her family, and how much we want to wrap our support around them".

"I have questions about why the bodycams weren't on", Hodges said. He was away for a business trip when the killing took place.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the woman's autopsy report.

The lawsuit claims Noor and the other officers violated the woman's rights when they entered her home without her permission and Noor grabbed her wrist and upper arm. During this conversation, the officer in the passenger side pulled his weapon and fired at Damond through the driver's side.
