PayPal added to Samsung Pay

PayPal added to Samsung Pay”

Today Samsung officially announced a new partnership with PayPal, adding yet another payment option to Samsung Pay.

Coming soon, consumers in the US will be able to use PayPal within Samsung Pay at millions of retailers.

"

"To some, the collaboration may be somewhat surprising, given PayPal's increasing incursions into the mobile payments market, which have made the service a kind of rival against Samsung Pay and other emerging mCommerce solutions."

".

Unfortunately, as is usually the case with new features, access to PayPal is only available in the U.S. for now although the company says other countries will follow suit in the future.

Samsung Pay is now fully available in 19 markets, having launched in its native South Korea back in August 2015 before landing in the U.S., China, Spain, and a number of markets across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Additionally, Braintree, a PayPal subsidiary that helps power online- and mobile-payments for ecommerce companies, will also support Samsung Pay thereby extending Samsung's payments reach to more merchants if they add just a few lines of code to their websites and apps. You'll still continue to earn rewards through Samsung Pay as well.

Thanks to Samsung's NFC and proprietary MST technology, Samsung Pay is the most widely-accepted mobile payment platform on the market and works nearly anywhere you can swipe or tap a card today.

This strategic partnership between Samsung and PayPal will mutually benefit both organizations' customers.

Users can access their PayPal wallet right inside Samsung's app and spend the balance in places where they couldn't before.

The move is quite a boon for Samsung, whose payment service already works with Near Field Communication (NFC), as well as with Samsung's patented Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology.
