Celtics won't trade top young players, picks for Paul George

Celtics won't trade top young players, picks for Paul Georgeā€

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George is being wooed by several clubs as the National Basketball Association prepares for Saturday's start of free agency for the 2017-18 season. But George reportedly would not do that unless the Celtics can sign a Blake Griffin or Gordon Hayward type of player. Boston has contingencies in place to make deals and start a possible Hayward-George scenario toward fruition, league sources told The Vertical.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports, the Rockets are trying to acquiring George from the Indiana Pacers.

Himmelsbach added that it's unclear how close the teams are to completing a deal.

Obviously, he's been most linked to his hometown Los Angeles Lakers, a squad George himself has indicated he wants to play for (more on that here). The Pacers are ready to trade George - it's just a matter of which offer they like the best. He has already informed the team he intends to leave when his current contract expires in one year, and the whole world knows the Los Angeles Lakers intrigue him.

The Pacers are fielding trade offers for Paul George. The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski recently reported IN believes the Celtics can put together the best package, but the Pacers should need to drop their asking price for a deal to get done. He has vowed to play through next season with IN but the four-time All-Star intends to leave when his contract expires next year.
